Glove touching screen

Glove & Wet
Touchscreen Operation

Kyocera devices not only survive, but also remain productive in the toughest environments. Glove and Wet Touchscreen Operation on our smartphones is designed to allow the user to talk, text or open an app when the screen is wet or while wearing gloves up to 3mm thick. Glove touch mode automatically detects when the user is wearing gloves. In this mode the sensitivity of the screen is increased to improve touch detection through the glove material. There is a setting for Glove Touch Mode to turn feature on and off (Settings > Display > Glove touch mode > On/Off) if you feel the display on your Android device is too sensitive. Default out-of-the-box setting is for feature to be turned on.

External Programmable Hard Keys

Kyocera devices include dedicated hard keys for navigation, speakerphone, Push-To-Talk functionality, camera and volume offering quick access with gloved hands or large fingers. Many of these hard keys can be customized and reprogrammed to assign specific functions for access to commonly used features. To call up the function, you simply press the key. With some of our ultra-rugged flip devices, you can program the navigation key with shortcuts to access specific menu items directly from the idle screen. So when it comes to working, even in the rain or cold weather, Kyocera simplifies access to your device features to keep you connected and productive.

Q&A

How do I set my screen for glove touch?

Kyocera’s capacitive touch screen means that the screen is always active with no setting to turn on.

How does capacitive touch screen work?

Capacitive touch screens are made from multiple layers of glass. The inner layer conducts electricity and so does the outer layer, so effectively the screen behaves like two electrical conductors separated by an insulator—in other words, a capacitor.

Why is glove touch device so important?

Workers in a variety of industries, such as construction and medical, must often wear protective gloves while working. It is important that they can operate their devices without being forced to remove their gloves which would leave them unprotected from potential injury from machinery or tools or susceptible to contact with germs and bacteria. Kyocera understands that their devices must allow workers to do their job while staying safe.
